In rolul capeteniei haiducilor, Amza, Emanoil Petrut ii ia locul lui Ion Besoiu, in rest ceata haiducilor ramanand in mare parte aceeasi. La inceputul secolului al XIX-lea, tot ce conteaza pentru domnitorii fanarioti este jefuirea tarii prin biruri inumane impuse tarii. Evident, haiducii lui Amza au o obiectie vizavi de aceasta stare de fapte, opunand siretenia lor nesatului infricosator al asupritorilor. De aceasta data, actiunea lor se concentreaza in jurul rapirii lui Hrisanti, fiul vitreg si tampitel al domnitorului.
